Global Network of Women's Shelters

Join Us in Calling Upon Governments to Take Action

The Global Network of Women’s Shelters wants women and children to be safe in every country of the world. At our 4th World Conference of Women's Shelters in 2019 in Taiwan we decided to focus on the availability and accessibility of women's helplines and crisis help in every country of the world.

Direct help is essential for victims of domestic and sexual violence. A women’s helpline is one of the most important ways of enabling victims to find help and support.

Allthough we do not have the exact numbers yet (we are collecting information just now, March 2020, you can help us, see ..), we know that over 20% of the countries do not have women's helplines or adequat crisis help. We want this to change.

We encourage communities, women's shelters and shelter networks to adopt our plan and use it as a framework to support and demand what women and children need from your local, national and regional governments to be safe and free from violence and abuse. Feel free to use our flyer.

Here you can read the Call for Action issued at the 3rd World Conference of Women's Shelters held in 2015.
